About 9,000 archeological remains illustrate the where pioneer’s life. It has been reguested that Shizuoka Prefecture keep these remains as part of its cultural heritage. Shizuoka Prefectural Archeological Center was established in 2011 for the purpose of excavating and investigating remains which have been discovered clue to commercial development activities. In 2016 the center moved to Ihara High School in order to hold larger exhibitions and conduct move excavations. The Shizuoka Prefectural Archeological Center is doing research on remains, utilizing and working on restoration, and safekeeping, aiming at the protection of remains which are national assets. Pride in our unique local culture and its preservation will allow us to pass the artifacts of historical inportance on to future generations.
